Webinar Announcement: The New Normal in Education: Parents as Partners and Facilitators of Learning for Learners with Disabilities

As we venture into the new normal in education, the children and learners with disabilities require extra love, encouragement, and support. The role of parents and guardians is crucial and significant in the coming school year as their partner and facilitator.

The Department of Education (DepEd Philippines) in partnership with Good Neighbors International Philippines and Save the Children Philippines invites parents and guardians in the webinar entitled “The New Normal in Education: Parents as Partners and Facilitators of Learning for Learners with Disabilities” on September 21 and 22 (Monday and Tuesday) from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

This webinar is spearheaded by the Bureau of Learning Delivery – Student Inclusion Division and can be accessed here at Good Neighbors Philippines‘ Facebook Page, DepEd Philippines, and Save the Children Philippines.

Good Neighbors International Philippines knows that families and children are struggling to adapt to this new set-up of education, especially to those dealing with disabilities. Through this webinar, we hope that parents and guardians will learn how they can guide and support their children’s education at this time of the pandemic.

Sowing Seeds of Hope: IRRI and GNI’s Global Partnership for Food Security and Sustainable Development

Los Baños, Philippines, May 20, 2024 – An innovative collaboration has been solidified as Good Neighbors International (GNI) and The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), a distinguished nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing global food security, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This historic event marked the inauguration of an International Cooperation aimed at advancing global food security, sustainable agriculture, climate change resilience, and community development. In light of the increasing impact of El Niño and La Niña on rice production—El Niño causing severe droughts that reduce crop yields and La Niña bringing heavy rains and flooding that can damage crops—this cooperation is more crucial than ever. These climate challenges significantly affect our farmers, the backbone of our food systems, who play a crucial role in ensuring food security. We are excited to innovate further to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change by introducing drought- and flood-resistant rice varieties developed by IRRI.

From Catch to Market: A New Way, New Hope for Sustainable Fishery in Palawan

On April 17, 2024 in El Nido, Palawan, a significant milestone was achieved as Good Neighbors International Philippines, led by Country Director Jae Choon Lee, alongside Good Neighbors Global Impact Foundation, represented by Senior Director Changpyo Lee, and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) led by Country Director Eunsub Kim, joined hands with El Nido Municipal Local Government under Mayor Edna Lim’s guidance. Together with the Municipal Governments of El Nido and Taytay, they hosted an inauguration ceremony  and convened to sign a Memorandum of Agreement for the transformative development project titled ”Enhancing Fisheries Productivity and Expanding Value Chain for Income Generation.”
