Good Neighbors Philippines and the Prieto Diaz local government unit have been working together to improve the lives of the people, especially in addressing child’s needs and strengthening the child protection system in the municipality.
As such, Prieto Diaz is implementing a special project dubbed Inclusive Community that is Aware, Responsive, and Engaged in Children’s Protection Project or ICARE. The main objective of this is to strengthen the child protection system in the area.
This project started because the Municipal Council for the Protection of the Children (MCPC) of Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon saw a need to create a Child Protection Unit.
Among the strategic activities to achieve the main objective is the reactivation of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) through capacity building training; improve the participation of the community in preventive and responsive care for the children; and the establishment of the ICARE-hub, child-friendly space for abused children.
Recently, Prieto Diaz Community Development Project has launched the 4Rs – Recognizing, Reporting, Recording, and Referral, Online Training. This launching jumpstarts the asynchronous training for the Level 1 Training under Child Protection Network attended by staff, Women Child Protection Desk Officers, Municipal Health Officers, and Municipal Social Welfare Development Staff. This training is a requirement for the accreditation and fulfillment of the establishing the Women and Child Protection Unit, known as ICARE Hub.
As for the construction of the ICARE Hub, the pre-bidding conference was also recently conducted. The target date of completion for the ICARE Hub will be on February 2022.
