Evacuation Center is critically useful in times of disaster, especially in areas prone to natural hazards. Hence, Good Neighbors International Philippines elevates its disaster preparedness through a special project on Disaster Risk Reduction in Laak, Davao de Oro.
This special project provides the beneficiary community a Public Address System which was installed early this year 2021, and the ongoing construction of the evacuation center that aims to finish in this latter part of 2021.
The construction started this July where a clearing operation from roads right of way to the project site. The access road was necessary to build to transport equipment and construction materials in the project site.
Along with this, material recovery, bank house, and base formation construction were started. As of today, the construction is in progress and completion of the base formation to ready the necessary materials and spontaneous flow and delivery of work done.
The Municipal Engineering Office (MEO), through their Municipal Engineer, is conducting monitoring to ensure that the project meets the requirements. The contractors and the MEO served as our volunteer technical consultants.
