Prior to joining us in the Philippines, he served as Country Director in Myanmar, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Indonesia, and currently holds the concurrent role of East Asia Regional Coordinator for Good Neighbors.

is an Associate Professor and current Dean of the College of Social Work and Community Development (CSWCD) University of the Philippines Diliman. A proud alumnus of the BSSW (1992) and MSW (2012) programs of UP Diliman, he then earned his PhD in Social Work from the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. He previously served as Chair of the Department of Social Work (2019–2022) and Director of the Doctor of Social Development Program (2023–2024).
is a senior Development Consultant who specializes in Fund Raising, Resource Mobilization, Non-Profit Management and Strategic Planning with over 4 decades of experience in progressive leadership roles. She is a pioneer in fund raising and trained at The Fund Raising School in Indiana, U.S.A. Mayan raised funds for organizations such as UNICEF, Asian Institute of Management, Ayala Foundation, Inc. and Save the Children, to name a few.
He is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Civil Law in Manila.
He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2004. In his sixth year as a lawyer, he founded the Gargantiel Law Office, which has now grown to a medium-sized full- service law firm—Gargantiel Ilagan and Atanante (GIA Law).
