Reaching an audience to raise awareness and act on emerging issues in the community is a valuable part of creating good change. This is most crucial to far-flung areas like Laak, Davao de Oro, where two of Good Neighbors’ community project areas are located.
Fortunately, the partnership with Radyo Kahimunan 101.4 FM, a local radio station, helped the organization reach the Laak municipality in raising various advocacies from children’s rights, COVID-19 information, breastfeeding, nutrition advocacies, and others.
Laak Field Office is officially part of the community radio council and became a segment holder and gained them a regular timeslot every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. While every Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, is the replay of the segment.
Additionally, the segment is also available through Facebook Live hosted by the Field Manager of Laak Field Office, Ms. Felomina Arroyo. Among the topics discussed in June of 2021 were child labor and the COVID-19 Vaccine awareness campaign.
Through this online and on-air radio advocacy, the parents, caregivers, youth, and children will be informed and educated.
