In 2015, Good Neighbors International Philippines (GNIP) supported Prieto Diaz in installing a Public Address System (PAS) that will reach out to 23 barangays of the municipality. This was used as an early warning system before the onset of a potential hazard and was also used to broadcast information campaigns on various health issues. Today, in this time of COVID-19 pressing problem, the PAS was recognized as an effective measure to update and disseminate important information and notices to the barangays. Moreover, the PAS was maximized through the regular playing of prayers, reciting of rosary and airing of catholic mass which have helped a lot in uplifting the hope and faith of the community. This has also a calming and de-stressing effect on people through playing music during idle time.
Still in collaboration with the local government of Prieto Diaz through the Rural Health Unit (RHU) and the Local Health Board, a Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) health plan was developed. One of its programs is the capacity building of the Barangay Health Workers on the management of infectious diseases that assisted them in today’s health crisis. Aside from the capacity building, GNIP donated 5,000 masks to RHU to help protect the health workers and other frontliners from being infected by the virus.
Mayor Benito L. Doma expressed his gratefulness for the meaningful partnership with GNIP which has helped in so many ways the people of Prieto Diaz municipality.
