Realizing the importance of the environment to a child’s development is the driving force behind Good Neighbors International Philippines (GNIP) initiatives that provide opportunities for safeguarding the children’s lives and the protection of the environment they live in. One of the innovations that technology made possible is the availability of solar power systems that provide gains on the community economically and environmentally. Following this idea, GNIP provided capacity training for Solar Volunteers that encapsulate topics on Basic Troubleshooting and Maintenance which ran from April 13 to 15 in the GNIP Head Office. The training, which was facilitated by MVT Solarize Lighting Enterprise, aimed to equip volunteers and staff of Solar Associations with knowledge and skills essential in understanding basic troubleshooting and maintenance training that were touched on. The training embarked lectures on understanding the solar power system, its parts and functions, and workshops on assembling, disassembling, and testing the system.
The participants were able to understand deeply the whole structure and its functionality, and the vital role of knowing how to maintain and troubleshoot the system. In the end, the whole project, in general, can provide a brighter and environmentally-friendly community for the children and their families.
