Good Neighbors Philippines, in partnership with the Federation of Associations for Communities and Children’s Empowerment, Inc. (FACE Inc.), successfully conducted a two-day Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) learning activity on January 18-19, 2025, at the Seamancor Eco-Developers Hall, Barangay Diamante, Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon. The event brought together around 25 individuals from various sectors, including the Prieto Diaz Local Government Unit, the Department of Education, and Good Neighbors Philippines, fostering a collaborative effort to support youth well-being.
This activity is part of a series designed to assess and enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of key individuals in addressing ASRH issues within the Prieto Diaz community. The goal is to empower stakeholders with the tools necessary to help adolescents make informed decisions and access vital health services.
The learning activity featured a presentation by Ms. Joyce Dechavez from the Provincial Health Office of Sorsogon, who provided valuable insights into the adolescent health situation in the province and the challenges faced. The FACE Inc. team, led by Executive Director Jobeth Jerao and supported by Program Officers Mary Jane Garcia, Jazzmine Grace Dellosa, and Ian Cliff Guzman, facilitated an engaging Training of Trainers workshop. The workshop included interactive activities designed for use during adolescent outreach activities.
Ms. Ailen Dolot from Manlabaong National High School shared that the timing of this learning activity was crucial, emphasizing the importance of relaying information such as the ABCDE (Abstain, Be Faithful, Consult Adults, Don’t Drink and Do Drugs, and Educate) to adolescents. She highlighted the significance of sharing these messages with students to help them make responsible choices.
By coming together as a community, we can build a safe and supportive environment where young people receive the guidance and resources they need as they grow. Investing in youth empowerment is investing in a future where they are informed, confident, and capable of leading healthier lives—becoming leaders who will drive Good Change forward.
