One of the most beautiful things to witness is a child’s genuine smile. Smiles are forms and symbols of confidence, encouragement, and happiness. Because Good Neighbors International Philippines (GNIP) believes that each child should be protected and happy, the organization continues to create programs and initiatives that connect children in need with people who can provide them with the quality basic services that they deserve.
GNIP, in cooperation with Operation Smile Philippines, Davao Brokenshire Hospital, and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Laak, Compostela Valley gave children with cleft lips and cleft palates more reasons to smile. A physical screening of three child beneficiaries with cleft lips and cleft palates was conducted in Brokenshire Memorial Hospital, Davao City.
Partners for the project were able to provide backing and support: Operation Smile Philippines provided free screening and free accommodation for the patients, while Davao Brokenshire Hospital served as the medical facility for the screening and future operations. The Laak LGU gave financial support and accommodation for the patients who are in line for operations.
The children underwent a total of 11 medical tests and were verified by a specialist for possible surgery. Two children qualified and were referred for cleft lip and palate surgery
