A total of 10,537 sponsored children was able to undergo their annual medical check-up commenced from April 29 to May 3, 2019, as Good Neighbors ought to monitor the children’s health condition.

The children availed of physical check-up and were provided multivitamins and basic medicines. The children who needed medication including laboratory tests such as X-ray, CBC, urinalysis, stool exam and other tests were recommended to consult physicians with support from GNIP.

Hospital-based conduct of the medical check-up is one of the good practices of Guiuan Field Office. The sponsored children who needed laboratory had their tests outright in the hospital. Moreover, the results of the tests were obtained immediately. The presence of pharmacists to disburse medicines was also very helpful especially for the parents who needed to know more about the medicines prescribed to their children.

The activity was jointly implemented with the barangay LGUs, Community Sponsorship Facilitators, Health Workers, Ponferrada Polymedic Hospital, Rural Health Unit and Pharmacia Machica.
