Baybay City, Leyte – Good Neighbors International Philippines (GNIP), in partnership with Korea International Cooperation Agency, recently donated safety equipment to the Schools Division Office of Baybay City, Leyte, to promote the safety of the 83 employees in the Division and make their office ready for any disaster.
The equipment donated worth 265,610 pesos consists of safety helmets, life vests, whistles, torch lamps with radios, portable folding stretchers, first aid kits, go bags, ropes, rain boots, and an alarm bell.
The turnover ceremony was attended by GNIP Guiuan Field Office Manager Mr. Reagan Malaca and Income Generation/DRRM staff Ms. Elland Cidro. Also present at the event were Mr. Ireneo O. Rodriguez, Senior Education Program Specialist – Social Mobilization and Networking; Ms. Lynneth A. Banoc, Project Development Officer I; Engr. James Edward L. Gonzales, Division Project Engineer; Leslie M. Arbiol, Principal IV-Baybay 3 District In-charge; and Mr. Ruel T. Mahipos, Project Officer II and DRRM Coordinator.
“We are elated and very much thankful for the safety equipment provided to us. The quality of the items was beyond our expectations. We believe they will last a long time!,” said Mr. Ruel Mahipos, as he and the other school personnel tried to use the equipment. The Schools Division Office of Baybay City expressed their gratitude for the support that they received.
