MANILA, 8 January 2022 – Good Neighbors International Philippines (GNIP) in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will provide 2,500 hygiene kits to the survivors of Typhoon Odette (Rai) in Southern Leyte. Approximately 12,500 individuals will benefit from this emergency response.
UNFPA supported GNIP in transporting and distributing the kits to the areas badly hit by the typhoon. Among the municipalities are Limasawa (600 kits), Pintuyan (600 kits), San Ricardo (600 kits), and San Juan (700 kits).
The hygiene kits consist of three (3) pieces of bath soaps, one (1) piece of bath towel, five (5) pieces of comb, two (2) pieces of toothpaste, five (5) pieces of face towel, five (5) pieces of a toothbrush, one (1) piece of blanket, one (1) collapsible water container, and a mosquito net.
Moreover, GNIP will also mobilize the second leg of Emergency Response in Bohol and provide 10kgs of rice targeting 3,000 households or 15,000 individuals. The organization will also extend a microfinance program to help the survivors recover faster. The microfinance program will help survivors rebuild their damaged houses, livelihoods, among others.
