22 February 2022 – A whole day interactive module pilot testing of the Inclusive Child Centered Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (ICDRRM) Project was held at the Liga ng mga Barangay Building, Angeles City, Pampanga on January 28, 2022, in coordination with Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (ACDRRMO).
The ICDRRM project is a partnership between Good Neighbors International Philippines (GNIP) and UNICEF Philippines to address the disaster-related needs and problems of children with disabilities and the Indigenous Peoples in the Angeles City, Pampanga.
The participants on the pilot testing were duty-bearers, officers, daycare workers, and community leaders of the seven (7) partner barangays namely Brgy. Anunas, Brgy. Balibago, Brgy. Cuayan, Brgy. Pandan, Brgy. Pulungbulu, Brgy. Salapungan and Brgy. Sapangbato.
On the other hand, an online run of the pilot testing was conducted in coordination with the Department of Education – Schools Division Office of Angeles City (Angeles City – SDO) attended by 27 school personnel, teachers, and educators from the 9 partner schools – Angeles Elementary School, Anunas Elementary School, Gueco Balibago Elementary School, Cuayan Elementary School, Francisco Nepomuceno Memorial High School, Salapungan Elementary School, Sapangbato Elementary School, Sapangbato National High School, and Sitio Target Integrated School.
The participants were Special Education (SpEd) Teachers, Indigenous Education Teachers, and DRRM focal persons of each school.
This activity encourages participation among partner schools and barangay LGUs to make sure that the module is relevant and suited for them as duty bearers and for the children of Angeles City.
The ICDRRM project is a collaborative effort among GNIP, UNICEF Philippines, LGU of Angeles City, DepEd Division of Angeles City, and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Region 3 to include children with disabilities and indigenous children in disaster risk reduction and management initiatives.
