The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 3 (Central Luzon) through the Provincial Science and Technology Center in Bulacan, in partnership with Good Neighbors International Philippines, granted a Disaster Preparedness Kit in Barangay Tibaguin, Hagonoy, Bulacan last June 22, 2021.
It contains 25 Solar-Powered Tablets with a built-in theoretical training database and a communication micro-e-learning server that focuses on the necessities of the community. It includes the community-based disaster risk reduction and management guidelines, contingency plan, and the roles and responsibilities of first responders during a disaster. The said solar-powered tablets are scalable because they work without the internet and applicable among remote or isolated barangays.
“Our approach is very simple. We innovate program solutions by looking at the people as our partners and not as beneficiaries with advocacy of quality, affordable learning, and disaster preparedness for all,” Mark Gerald Paner, GNIP Bulacan Field Office Manager.
Moreover, the disaster preparedness kit package contains a portable solar panel, battery storage with inverter and USB charging bay, Short Range Radio Service (SRRS) Radio with National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) License, SRRS Radio with NTC License as Relay with a voice recorder, and player, Long Term Evolution (LTE) Router with a WiFi access point, and LTE High Grain External Antenna, and waterproof trolleys.
