Barangay San Isidro is considered one of the most economically depressed area in the municipality of Montalban, Rizal together with other upland barangays like Macabud, Mascap, Puray, and upland portions of San Rafael. It host a big population of more than 20,000 majority of whom are from the marginalized urban poor who were resettled in the area, poor upland farmers, and indigenous people, deprived of essential basic services to live decently.
Sitios Lukutang Malaki, Lukutang Maliit, Anginan and Maislap are some of the most marginalized sitios in San Isidro and the people living in these areas could not easily receive and access essential social services. Like their parents, most of the children in these poor communities are deprived of their basic rights and needs such as education, health and shelter. Due to these circumstances, the area was targeted for Good Neighbors’ child sponsorship and community development programs.
