The Coastal Municipality of Gigmoto in the province of Catanduanes in Region V (also known as Bicol Region) was identified while researching for a new target project area of GN Philippines for Sponsorship and Community Development Project. The research showed that Gigmoto belongs to the 5th income class of municipalities in the Philippines, which means it is largely dependent on the national government for income to run the municipality. Research also reveals that the Municipality of Gigmoto is not a recipient of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s 4 Ps National Program for the poor. GNI Philippines initiated the contact with the Provincial Government of Catanduanes through Provincial Social Welfare of Catanduanes. An initial research and ocular visit to Gigmoto with the assistance of the Provincial Government was conducted and finally, meet the Municipal Mayor of Gigmoto.
