After the conduct of damage and needs assessment for the victims of Typhoon Bhopa in the Municipality of Laak, it was decided to consider Barangay Aguinaldo as one of the target areas for new GNIP CDP back in 2013. GNIP coordinated with the then Municipal Mayor of Laak and the then Barangay Captain of Aguinaldo to share our plan for setting up a long term project for Aguinaldo for sponsorship and community development programs. This is to further expedite the recovery and rehabilitation of the community from the devastation brought about by Typhoon Pablo.
Barangay Aguinaldo is composed of 12 Puroks with 4 Special Barangays namely, Barangay Candiis, Hinagtungan, Libuton, and Limot with a total number of 1073 households with 1078 families or 5390 individuals. These populations are composed of mostly Cebuano, followed by Boholano and next are Dibabawon and the rest are Leyteno, Ilonggo, Mandya, Manobo etc. Dibabawon are the original settlers of Barangay Aguinaldo. Cebuano dialect is predominantly used in the community.
